Third, if you find a wild/feral cat on your property the shelter will loan you a trap. You can trap it and using your certificate, neuter it and release it back on your property. Feral cats make wonderful barn cats too keeping away unwanted snakes, killing mice, rats and moles.

SAMPSON COUNTY - With three confirmed cases of rabies in the county, local officials are warning residents about the dangers and urging them to vaccinate their pets.According to information from the county office, the State Veterinary Office has confirmed three separate cases of rabies in wild animal specimens taken in Sampson County since March 28.
Two of the cases involved wild fox specimens and led to a dog who was determined to have direct contact with one of the rabid foxes being put to sleep. This animal had an expired vaccination. ... The third case, on Autryville Road, involved a raccoon, but no domesticated animal was involved.
According to the N.C. State Virology reports, Sampson County has had 35 cases of rabies from Jan. 1, 2000 to present.Since that date one bat, one dog, eight foxes, three bobcats and 22 raccoons have been confirmed as having the rabies virus.
