At last! Good news for the ferals of Israel!
Our Minister of the Home Office declared today [December 10] that the Ministry is going to put 2 million shekels (about $400,000) into TNR!!! He wants the local authorities to opt for no-kill options with feral cats so his office will supply the budget for TNR for 20,000 cats!!! He also said that whenever the head of any municipality approaches the office asking for help (financial or otherwise), they are going to be evaluated by several criteria, one of them being humane treatment of animals in their jurisdiction!
I read that the Minister himself feeds the feral cats in his neighborhood every night!
Here's his page in the parliament website -

His email is - aporaz@knesset.gov.il
Please drop him a line if you can - to show him that his actions are noticed worldwide. Thanks!
A news article (in Hebrew) was published in Yediot Ahronot - the most popular daily newspaper in Israel.
Volunteers care for Eugene area's feral cat colonies
Every morning, Jill Winans gets in her car and drives several miles from her rural home southwest of Eugene to an industrial warehouse area off Bailey Hill Road to put out food and water and check on the welfare of a colony of nine feral cats.

Cat population kept in check: Volunteers step up to spay or neuter strays
Think of them as modern day cowpokes with one big difference: These people don't herd cattle, but cats by the hundreds. Every other month, a band of "catpokes" rounds up homeless felines in live traps and takes them to a big, white hospital truck owned by the nonprofit Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon.
