DECLAWING: Supervisors approved Sandoval's resolution asking cat owners and veterinarians to stop declawing their pets and to discuss alternatives. Veterinarians from Sacramento to San Francisco strongly opposed the measure. Sandoval told The Examiner he thinks it is a public policy issue because declawing is inhumane, but he is holding off on a binding law to see what effect the non-binding resolution has.

A note about stray cats, if you have a stray in your neighborhood, call the office and report it. Traps have been set and 14 cats have been turned over to the Humane Society so far. If you have a pet, cat or dog, keep them indoors or on a leash. This is a park rule as well as a county law.
